•        A spot that has redness, bleeding, and swelling beyond its borders.

•        Itching or pain in sun-exposed areas like the face, scalp, chest, arms, and legs, needs a doctor's consultant.

•        If the spot size is larger than ¼ inch or about the size of a pencil eraser, it may be an early symptom of skin cancer.

Types of Skin Cancer

There are three most common types of skin cancer depending on the types of infected cells. Each type of skin cancer has its signs and warnings

 

•        Basal Cell Carcinoma: This is one of the most common skin cancers that arise in the basal cell at the bottom of the upper layer of skin called the epidermis.

•        Squamous Cell Carcinoma:  The most common skin cancer after Basal cell carcinoma is squamous cell carcinoma which develops in the squamous cells, which are generally flat cells near the skin surface.

•        Melanoma: It develops in the cells called melanocytes which are responsible for changing the skin color.
